Brandon Chavez


Brandon Chavez is an Associate Attorney at Shegerian & Associates, where he is dedicated to protecting individuals’ rights and holding employers accountable.
Before joining the firm, Brandon served at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Office of Chief Counsel, representing the IRS before the U.S. Tax Court. There, he litigated complex, high-stakes cases involving tax shelters worth tens to hundreds of millions of dollars and led a trial team in a seven-day proceeding with multiple expert and fact witnesses. Brandon also advised revenue agents on developing cases related to cryptocurrency and fraud.
Brandon earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he served as an Articles Editor for the Berkeley Technology Law Journal and contributed to the Centro Legal de La Raza Workers’ and Tenants’ Rights Clinic. He was also a Pacific Tax Policy Institute Scholar.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Mathematics from California State University, Fullerton, where he also worked as a math tutor.
Outside of his legal work, Brandon enjoys cycling, listening to folk music, and volunteering with a local cat rescue organization.
