Sogol Gharaei represents employees confronting workplace injustice, drawing on both personal history and rigorous legal training. Raised in a family of farmers and small business owners and as a former religious refugee from Iran, Ms. Gharaei understands how deeply a person’s job is tied to stability, dignity, and survival, as well as the importance of being heard when power is imbalanced.
Her commitment to advocacy began early. While in college, Ms. Gharaei worked with the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy and the United Nations on community-based and grassroots initiatives supporting populations affected by religious extremism. These experiences shaped her belief that meaningful legal advocacy must be grounded in both empathy and precision.
Ms. Gharaei earned her Juris Doctor from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, where she was awarded the Dean’s Merit Scholarship. During law school, she gained hands-on litigation experience through international moot court competitions, academic study at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, and law clerk positions involving active litigation and complex, high-level motion practice.
Prior to joining Shegerian & Associates, Ms. Gharaei trained at a well-known, fast-paced employment law firm, where she handled discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters across all major stages of litigation. She is fluent in Persian and speaks conversational Spanish.
Outside of her legal practice, Ms. Gharaei is a poet and finds balance through museums, the California coast, and time spent sharing meals with family and friends.
