An experienced trial attorney, Shegerian has tried many jury trials to verdict in both state and federal court, representing individuals that have suffered financial or emotional losses and have been wronged by employers, including major corporations. He has won over 73 jury trials in his career, including 31 seven figure verdicts. Among his many landmark cases, in 2014 he obtained a wrongful termination and age discrimination jury verdict in favor of a client that is considered to be the largest employment related award of its kind in Los Angeles legal history.
Shegerian shared insights during the “Employment Trial Skills” seminar. In his presentation, to a packed room of fellow attorneys, Shegerian focused on the “do’s and don’ts” of opening statements during trials and provided a mock opening statement to illustrate his points on how best to provide the best possible opening statement in court.
CAALA is the largest association of plaintiff lawyers in the United States and its annual Las Vegas Convention is the most widely attended convention of trial attorneys in the nation. This year’s event featured three and a half days of education sessions presented by the nation’s most accomplished trial lawyers, jurists and legal consultants. The convention this year hosted more than 2,800 attendees.
No stranger to the CAALA stage, Shegerian was the organization’s Trial Lawyer of the Year Award recipient in 2013.
“It’s truly an honor and a privilege to have been asked to share my experiences and insights with my peers,” said Shegerian. “I always look forward to the opportunity to learn from my esteemed colleagues in plaintiff law and CAALA provides a terrific forum to pay some of that knowledge forward.”
